14 X 14 X 1.5" OIL ON WOOD PANEL
I've been wanting to paint this guy for a while but painting glowing light in a dusky situation is a bit challenging and I had to be in the right mood. But today I tackled it. I'm pretty happy with him. He seems really happy with himself for some reason.
I love his goofy, crooked smile.
The key to making paint look like light is making the colors around the light source colors dull and muted enough to make the light colors appear as if they are actually a light source. It's actually a lot of fun trying to get it right.
It's an exercise in temperature and value as much as anything and I got to stare at Jack's face all afternoon. Win-win!
